HOW DO I COMBINE ALPHA DATA FROM 2 COLUMNS INTO ONE COLUMN?

I am an Excel novice.

I have 2 columns in an Excel spreadsheet. The first column contains first names and the second column contains middle initials or middle names. I want to combine these 2 columns into one column so that a single column contains the first name with a space and then the middle initial or middle name as it may be. Is there some way to accomplish this other than typing them one at a time??

Tom,

If you have:
"John" in cell A1, and
"Joseph Paul" in cell B1, then the following formula
in cell C1: =A1&" "&B1, will produce
"John Joseph Paul" in cell C1.

Hope this is what you wanted. Please advise.

Sorry to butt in Dale but just as an extra thought, being as Tom considers himself a novice,

Once the formula is entered into C1 (or whatever your start cell is), if you float the mouse pointer over the bottom right corner of the cell, a + will appear. Double click the left mouse button and the formula will "Fill Down" to the bottom of your list Rgds

That worked fine. Saved me a lot of work.

I could not get that little plus sign to fill down for me but used the Edit menu fill down which worked fine. Double click on the plus sign did nothing.

It will only fill down to the next empty cell so if you do not have contiguous data, it will not work. If you do however, it will. Rgds
