... how to change this or stop what ever on their"

what does this mean? (i'm guessing English is not your first language?)

do you require help in setting up Apache to allow you to run PHP scripts?

Kind Regards
Duncan

Yes I do. But it says my port if used. I need to know how to check if the port is used how to stop what is in it. and how to set up apache to allow me to run PHP scripts

Which OS are you running it on? The config file is very different between Win32 and linux.

Although most wpeople would agree that XP is not the best platform for running a server, it will be perfect for what you want. What you want to do is setup apache, mysql and php on you win box. This configuration is called "WAMP" and there are packages out there with these already configured. You can do a google for wamp or check out

I'm not sure I understand your question about port 80. This is the port used by apache and all web servers it is the port that all http requests come in on. If you are getting an error message that there is something already using this port and you know for sure that no other web server is running, then check to see if you have any p2p software such as kazaa using that port.

if something is already using port 80 its probably a webserver or a proxy. run the command telnet localhost 80 and see what kind of answer you get. If you get a connection refused, there is nothing listening. With xp it may be a locked down security setting thats preventing creating a socket.

I'm not really very fluent on xp but it is locked down more tightly out of the box.

Could that possibly be XP's internet connection sharing? I don't have XP or use it, but it's just a thought.
