If I telnet on port 110 to my mail server, I get the following response:
+OK POP3 [192.168.10.10] v2001.78rh server ready

What do I need to change to have a message displayed here and not my server IP address?

From the /etc/postfix/samples/configfiles

# The smtpd_banner parameter specifies the text that follows the 220 status code in the SMTP greeting banner.
# Some people like to see the mail version advertised. By default, Postfix shows no version.
#
# You MUST specify the $myhostname at the start of the text.
#
#smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $mail_name ($mail_version)
smtpd_banner = $myhostname ESMTP $mail_name

Hmmm.
Maybe this works only for the smtp server, not pop3. Maybe you can check it out and let the rest of us know.
