Please re-read the first line of your question above: "my ip is static". STATIC means DOES NOT CHANGE.

If you've found that you sometimes get a new IP address after your cable modem is off for awhile, then you do NOT have a static IP address; rather, you have a dynamic one with a long lease time. I've had the same dynamic IP address for 4 months now, but it's still subject to change any time.

So, you can unplug, or move.

There is not a way to /release /renew on a static address. You must remove the address manually. Is there a particular reason you need to get rid of the static address? More detail please. Like jpm said you may have a lease on the IP. If that is the case and you cannot renew your address here is my suggestion. Unplug the modem completely from both the computer and the wall if it is external. If you are using a NIC also then unplug the cable from both ends on that as well. Sometimes there is a charge left in the cable and it can interfere with your network connection being renewed. -Brad
