how do I change dos printer to me windows?

When paradox dos program was moved from Win 98 (dot matrix printer) to new ME computer and HP smart photo printer, any print job from paradox gives the error message - device conflict LPT1 & that Paradox DOS is trying to use same device as windows. This totally locks the computer down. The programer took all books and diskettes. How can I change the program to print on the new computer?
