I have 3 issues relating to media player:
1. I want to keep media player as my default audio/video player, but I don't want it as my default static picture viewer (jpg & bmp files etc.), or when opening internet pix.
2. I would prefer (I think) to use version 7.1 rather than the XP default installed version 9.0. I removed it (9.0) from the windows installed components by unchecking the check box, and then I tried to install 7.1 with it's install file (mp71.exe). However during the attempt it aborted saying I already had a later version installed.
Is 7.1 not compatible with XP perhaps, or is it something else? And fundamentally, am I better off with 9.0 rather than 7.1 anyway? I ask this because 7.1 had been recommended to me over 9.0 for its simplicity etc. while using my former OS 98SE. (I verified that I still did indeed have 9.0 installed, even though I had taken the steps above to remove it - or so I thought).
3. I had copied my playlists to the XP machine from the 98SE machine, and in XP and media player 9.0 I am unable to copy some of my files to wav from wma for putting onto a CD to play in my car. It is preventing me because of licencing issues. I did not have this problem with 98SE and media player 7.1.
