I need to change the IP address of my server.

I guess I could use INETCFG and make the changes from here, but are there any other files that need this change applied too?

Are there any particular steps I need to follow to apply these changes without much trouble?

Thanks.

Generally you always use INETCFG to change the IP address as it will also automatically update the LOAD and BIND commands used when the server boots. You can do it all manually from the console but unless you save the config you will be doing it everytime you reboot. There are no dependancies from the servers point of view by changing the IP. You may have to update any DNS with the new IP. You may need to edit any host files with the IP in. You may have some applications that have been coded to use the IP. You may need to check Timesync if this server is a time source or reference. (these are all assuming IP addresses have been used and not names). You may need to change the subnet mask if you change IP class. The beauty of Netware is if you make a mistake you can put back the old address or just work around the problem areas. If you have multiple servers and are running IPX as well the servera will still be able to synchronize. There are many different scenarios that could cause a hiccup but they are usually easily sorted.

I changed the IP address of my server and everyghing is fine in my subnet, but my other 2 locations (subnet B and subnet C) are not responding.

Could this had to do with the Gateway? INETCFG does not ask for a gateway setting.

Thanks for your help.

Ooops!

Actually the setting for a gateway is right there in INETCFG, I did not see it before.

Thanks.
