I’m doing a VPN phone install.

Avaya 4621SW IP phones.

I have already converted the phones to Group 876.

I needed to make a change to an IP address in the 46vpnsetting.txt file on the S8300 TFTPboot directory.

How do I reset the phone back to Group 678 to pull the config files back down to the phone.

I’m trying to go through the Mute settings, *, etc., but the phone does not respond.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Login to the phone with an extension. Then you will be able to do it.
Or reboot the phone, wait till it says "press * to program" press # to everything. It will then say enter command, now you can press mute group#.

The problem I am having is on reboot, there is no option to program (*) or do anything else. I can't "break" into the phones to change anything.

So it won't let you login either. If it doesn't give you login and you can't * to program then I'm pretty sure you are hosed. Same thing can happen if you unplug the phone when it says DO NOT UNPLUG PHONE.

I changed three phones to VPN and I can guarantee I did not unplug the phones on bootup.

Now, by hosed , do you mean ultimately hosed or temporarily hosed, and how do I unhose myself?

Thanks...

As far as I know when the phone has no firmware or corrupt firmware you can send it back to Avaya, not sure on a cost. You probably have a paperweight or door on your hands
