Hello all,

I was wondering if anyone knew of step by step instructions on blacklisting mail intended for certain users. I am very inexperienced with sendmail so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
bp

I'm assuming you are trying to stop mail (spam?) coming in to you? If so, use the access feature where you would put an email address, server name, or IP and REJECT.

ie
bigspammer@hotmail.com REJECT
123.44.44.44 REJECT
juno.com REJECT

If that's not what you meant, let me know and I'll see if I can help.

Thanks,
Max

That's if exactly. Which file would I need to put that into? Again, I'm trying to learn this and am very green with sendmail.

Thanks,
bp

put it in /etc/mail/access file and after that

# makemap /etc/mail/access < /etc/mail/access

Hope it will solve your prob..

With regards,
WithU :)

That is close to what I am looking for. I really appreciate your help so far, and the /etc/mail/access file will certainly come in handy. What I am wanting is to block mail destined for users on my network that are no longer here. The way our network is setup is the sendmail server relays into our exchange server. I was hoping to stop some of the mail before it gets to the exchange server. If you know of any way or a place to find resources for this then I would greatly appreciate it. Again, thanks for your help.
