HOW DO I ALPHABETIZE MY CONTACT LIST

So, I am new to act and every time i open the program, my 300 contact come in a different order. Sometimes it is alphebatized and most the time it is in dissaray.

I looked under preferences and there is nothing there.

Any help would be appreciated
