Hi, That sounds like a very general question. I guess you are running
Cisco clustering software., CMS and/or SNMP to manage the cluster
I grabbed these links to some clustering stuff on Cisco's CCO disks
I tried do what is recommended in the cisco links. But the other switches did not show up. I turned on CDP on all of my switches. Maybe I am not running the right ios. What I was trying to do is eliminate collisons on my network without having to create new vlans with multiple subnets. If clustering the switches is not the solution is there a way to create multiple vlans on the same subnet ? My main goal is to eliminate collisions and broadcats.
Why do you want to run clusters anyhow? In my option they aren't worth the complication. Can you remember that each switch has a different IP? Good, now there you go, you don't need clustering.
If you are already using switches there isn't a way to reduce collisions except maybe moving to full duplex. Collisions are normal in ethernet and, unless they're high, nothing to worry about. To reduce the broadcasts you really need more VLANS. If you're being flooded you can reduce them with the broadcast command.
