How do I add New Blades to Catalyst

I am a real rookie when it comes to Cisco, but I need to know how to add a new card to a Catalyst 4507.
Is it auto detected, or do you need to add a few commands to get the IoS to recognise the card.
and are they called cards or Blades or Modules?
I would really appreciate any info and advice on this

Usually called modules . Just insert them into the chassis and it will see them as long as your version of IOS supports the card you are inserting , this should be checked before even ordering the card.

Just make sure to not put line card modules into supervisor module slots. Supervisor modules are usually the blue slots in your chassis.
