Hello,

I know this is silly. But I really don't know.

I have several Dell servers on the rack. Now I want to add some RAM on them. How do I do this? Do I have to take them off the rack? They are 4Us, big and heavy :). I don't see there is other way to do this?

Any suggestions? Thanks!

Most DELL servers have a panel at the side that must be opened to get at the RAM. I always try to rack mount my servers using rails for this reason.

You will also need to run the CD that came with the server in order to tell it that there is more RAM, for older DELLs. They tend to complain that the memory size has changed every time the server is booted until you have done this.

Hope this helps

Check the knowledge base in support.dell.com. Dell has great info for jobs like this.
