How do I add more lines/trunks to MERLIN MAGIX

My company just moved their offices to a larger space, and in the process, decided to add two more lines. Right now, the lines just ring if you call in from the outside. I guess this is because they are not programmed into the MERLIN system.

My question is, how do I verify that these lines are in fact plugged into the system? We have 2 412TDL cards, and one is completely filled with our first four lines. The second card has two ports filled. I'm assuming these are the two new lines.

Once I've verified the lines are in place, how do I programm them in with my other four lines?

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Tony

If you need to know if the lines are in the system, from any phone, use a SA button and dial " *03272387405 " and " *03272387406 "; (this is assuming your default password is CRAFTR4) the last two digits, 05 and 06 correspond to the trunk numbers 805 & 806. If these are your lines, you should pull dialtone. Additionally, you can remove the plugs from the Merlin and plug them into a single line set, see if you get dialtone; call the number(s) and verify the phone rings.

If these are your two numbers, you need to go to:
Extensions > Lines/Trunks > [Enter Extension Number] > [Assign line(s)]

This will place a line button in the first available button after the SA buttons that is not already a trunk button. Note that this will erase any previously programmed feature button, so you will have to reprogram those on a different button. By default, the line will be assigned with 'immediate' ring.

If these are not your lines (perhaps they are used for Music on Hold and Pageing) then you will have to extend the dialtone from the D-Mark to a spare trunk port (in your case, ports 07 & 08) and then program them.

If you use ARS and the new lines are going to be used for outcalling, be sure to add them to the appropriate Pool (probably Pool 70)

Lines/Trunks > Pool > [Enter Pool #]

In addition to WinSPM, you can also program all this from a 4424LD console (such as the operator console).
