I have ver. 5.0.5. My boot drive is SCSI. I added an IDE drive. Bios lets me choose which to boot from, this is not a problem. The IDE drive is recognized just fine.

I used mkdev hd and went through that without a problem. I assumed after a reboot the new filesystem on the IDE drive would either be ready to go or have to be mounted.

It is no where to be found. Do I have to manually add commands to /etc/default/filesys? I want to use the IDE drive to send backup files to it instead of a tape drive.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Does 5.0.5 require mkdev fs to create it like 4.2?
My brain is filled with 4.2 stuff right now and I can't remember. Ed Fair

u still use mkdev hd for IDE hdd

could pls tell the parametes u gave for hd.

whta is reporte by bios i.e. master /slave on primary/secondary hdd should match with mkdev parameters

for primary hdd or master it would be
primary = 0 and secondary = 1 and
master = 0 and slave = 1
lun amd bus always 0
