How do I add fields to a custom table in PFW4.7?

I am running Platinum for Windows 4.7i and Pervasive SQL7 on a Novell 4.2 server. We have custom tables that were added by a 3rd party consulting firm before I took over IT. Contacting former consultants is NOT an option. I am trying to add fields to one of the custom tables using the Platinum Dictionary Editor. I am able to add the fields to the .PDD but the fields do not show up anywhere in PFW, Crystal or anywhere except if I go back into the .PDD using the Dictionary Editor. I assume that I need to make the changes to all the existing .DDF's as well in order for the fields to show up but I cannot seem to figure out how to edit the .DDF's. Anybody able to point me in the right direction?
