How do I add Bookmarks in InDesign?

Hi, I've tried to add bookmarks to a document in InDesign using the bookmark palette. I can create a bookmark, but i can't link them together. I think I have exported it right too -choosing the include bookmark in the exportwindow. Pleace, can sombody help??
