I have 1 table that i want to use reporting server against to build reports, there is 1 column i need to be able to filter on, how do i add filters?
i have purchased "Reporting Services for dummies" but i guess i'm too big of a dummy for this program :p

cant figure it out! %##$#%#!

2 ways:

1: parameter in the query itself - when in the query, click on the ... next to the dataset name and choose the "parameters" tab - enter desired parameter here - this will filter the data at run time

2: as above but choose the "Filter" tab - add your filter et voila - this will run the query for ALL results but then you can filter quickly afterwards

depends on how / why you need to filter the data really

Option 1 is best for one off runs. Option2 is better if you need to interrogate the main dataset several times for different values

We could learn a lot from crayons. Some are sharp, some are pretty and some are dull. Some have weird names and all are different colours but they all live in the same box.

Please read FAQ222-2244 before you ask a question

no workie :(

ha!
got it, had to set the parameters correctly.

thanks!
