I have a Quantam Bigfoot my brother in law gave me and i want to add it on to my system as a second hard. I am running Win98 and a Gateway system. I need to know how to make it a slave drive, or where i can add stuff to it to make my computer have more memory(gigbyte wise). Please, Please tell me how i can do this. Anything will be much appricating. Thank you,

If you have a 5.25" drive bay open for the Bigfoot, you can set the jumper on the drive to Cable Select [CS] or Slave and plug it into the middle fitting on the data ribbon/cable that the original drive is on. If no middle fitting, a new cable will be needed. A Cable Select data ribbon will be marked as to what goes where. A lot of Gateway and other 'brand' computers use Cable Select, makes assembly easy. The Master drive may also need a jumper changed, depending on what brand it is. One edge of the ribbon will be marked with a red or blue stripe, align the fitting with the stripe going to Pin 1 on the drive.

Be aware that the Bigfoot did have a reputation of being one of the slowest hard drives made [bigger is not always better] so your overall computing speed may or may not be noticeably slower.

"where i can add stuff to it to make my computer have more memory(gigbyte wise)" Memory {RAM - Random Access Memory] is a different subject, memory modules can be added but more is needed to be known about the motherboard and how many sockets are available for the modules, what kind of modules, and the limit of each socket. In addition, it is documented by Microsoft that Win95/98/ME have problems with more than 512MB RAM installed.
