How do binary configs differ from ascii configs in bcc?

We have a home grown script that stores device configurations to a central repository. We get our BLN/BCN configs via bcc by executing the command "show config -all -verbose". I have heard recently that certain bits of the config aren't available this way and can only be retrieved via the binary config.

My question is:
1. Does anyone know if this is true?
2. Which bits are only available through the binary config?

Thanks much!
