We are running a little UC520 PABX switch and most of our staff have DID numbers that are linked to their extensions via translation rules. For 90% of our calls the caller would call the main line and connect to the receptionist and she would transfer the call.

What I am trying to archive is that if the receptionist transfers a call and it is not answered say after 30 sec to be redirected back to the receptionist (or whichever party tried the transfer). Normally the forward no answer would work but not in this case due to the DID, eg the receptionist would receive a lot of calls they didn't transfer.

Any ideas?

Do you have a expansion module on the operator phone?

You would be able to answer from the module after you transfer, given you have the appearance of the line....

Have you thought about parking the call and paging?

" Yes we do, 2 7914's

"You would be able to answer from the module after you transfer," does this mean it will come back to them or the operator just picks the hand set up and presses the button.

I haven't thought about parking the call, can you park and ring the extenstion ?

After you park the call you can make a page or just internally dial the ext and advise they have a call waiting in park...
