I went to Google.ca and use the new local search, it searched using my postal code or a local map. How do they know where I am? Not sure if this is the right forum for this post.If not could anyone point me to the correct one?

In line with another post made here, I'd guess that they check your IP against a geographical database of IP addresses.

No Google toolbar. Guess it's my IP but where I live is a very small village close to a larger town and my server is 100k away. It's interesting that the IP is so specific.
