How did Skype get into my code???

Rewriting my web site way overdue, I reviewing the old code to get it into this century. Looking for an email script I use, I find that Skype has written code into may web site.

I always wondered how the flag icon got there (You see this when you have Skype) but now I wonder how they are able to write the code for it into my pages. I sure never gave them the keys to my kingdom.

I am not sure I like this at all.

It's more likely that a skype plugin has written/added to the HTML (possibly using javascript) after it has been sent and processed by the browser.

yes, this is the skype plug in on your computer not on the site, I assume you have SkyPE installed. It detects phone numbers pages you are visiting and makes them into links that you can click to automatically call through your SkyPE.

SkyPE couldn't add code to your site without hacking into it and i can't see them going that far!

I am fairly sure you can disable the browser plugin in the skype options if you want to

But a follow up. I notice as I write new pages that IE is kindly blocking java script to save me from..well, just to save me. We all need Big Brother, I suppose.

At any rate, my sites don't use java to the best of my knowledge. I wouldn't know how (yet). I was trying for a bit to work with Microsoft Expression Web (don't get me started) but ended up using it only to view CSS and reverted all pages to the original HTML backed up by a separate style sheet. I do notice the occasional two Asian appearing characters at the top, which I assume comes from using Amaya now and then to view another style sheet or html code (so they can be seen side by side) - and I suspect that it dribbles there. Note pad, hoewever, shows nothing exotic.

Is this supposed java script the Skype insert perhaps?
