Hi everybody, somebody knows how configurate HP´s switches, in order to create different vlans for data and voice IP, without having to program the vlans in the IP PHONES. I mean, what I want is avoiding to program the IP PHONES one to one, telling them which is the VLAN which they are.

NOTE: somebody toll me that is easy in CISCO´S switches, because they use the CDP protocol to detect if they are voice or data, so they assign straightly their VLANs.

HOW ABOUT HP´s SWITCHES, and HOW IT IS CONFIGURATE.

Thanks Beforehand

Same for HP switchs. Its very easy unless you connect the PC via the ip phone to save cable drops.

Since the phone will only be apart of vlan 2(vlan 1 data vlan 2 Ip for example)

you would configure the port

vlan 2 untagged ethernet 5 (ip phone plugged into port 5)

The phone doesn't need to be reconfigured since its part of vlan 2 untagged. The switch port will strip the vlan 2 tag before it reaches the phone
