Hi All

Need to find ******* in a worksheet.

How?

Stew "Even a stopped clock tells the right time twice a day."

Did you try putting quotes around the asterisks when searching? Just an idea.

Hi luceze

Tried that - no joy.

***** - finds everything

"****" - finds anything with two quotes

Any more ideas?

Word uses an option for wildcards - Excel doesn't have this option (not even in code as far as I can tell). Im out of (easy) ideas.

try searching for char(42)

substitue your cell for A1

=SEARCH(CHAR(42),A1,1)

Hi Dreamboat

Had hoped for an easier way. This will be a minor pain in code (had been looking at some code for a word spell check in excel - and this was exactly how it worked. Copy, paste, check, copy, paste.)

Thanks all.
