How can we share a directory on an AIX running on 4.3
Is it the "share" command or some thing else.

Or is there a file in /etc which I can edit.

Thanks.

Who are you sharing with? Another server? AIX or Microsoft? Just file access or database sharing? Is this for disaster recovery? IBM Certified -- AIX 4.3 Obfuscation

I am trying to share my CDROM so that other have access to it.

THANKS

What do you want to share it with?

Assuming another AIX or other unix machine, look under "smit nfs" for exporting a directory.

Assuming you want to share with Windows, there are a few options, the easiest of which (IMAO) is Samba.

for unix systems you can use NFS (smitty has nice menus for it)
eg - you export a cdrom mountpoint readonly to client hosts and on clients just mount server:/cdrom /server-cdrom
for Windows/Dos you can use builtin Netware/IPX or IBM Fastconect (for a price) or free Samba
