In my network, there is a printer A connecting to computer B with win2000 prof installed, and computer B is a member of the win2000 domain, now users whose computers are members of the win2000 domain can print using printer A without username and password, but if others, whose computers are not joined to the win2000 domain, want to use printer A,they must offer the username and password, now they also want to use printer A without providing the username and password, what should I do?Please help me,Tks!

is there a good reason why some machines do not go through domain authentication ? this would be the best solution to your problem....

cheers,
Jon. :)

Why don't you give a guest account access to the printer (but nothing else) C:\DOS:>
C:\DOS:>RUN
RUN DOS RUN!!

Share the printer to the everyone group. Set the print permissions to everyone.

The issue is domain membership....the printer is part of the domain, so, the non-members have to provide proof that they are allowed access to the domain. That's why they have to use a login and password. The others are already a part of the domain, so they obviously are allowed to be on the domain. What you need to do is set up permissions on the domain to allow the non-domain members to be part of the domain for printer use (a role or a group should do it).

Thanks all!I have shared the printer to the everyone group, and have give a guest accout access to the printer, but maybe the OS of the computer is win2000 prof, the username guest and the password of guest still required.SQLBill, can u tell me the details of how can I "set up permissions on the domain to allow the non-domain members to be part of the domain for printer use (a role or a group should do it)."? Tks!
