How can restore explorer.exe

My computer Windows 2K was with virus (byway/dir III) in explorer.exe. Then I changed this file for another name.
When I start my computer I can do logon no problem.
How I changed this program I am not receiving the screen
from windows explorer.
How can I restore this file (explorer.exe).

If your'e sure the virus is gone, do a good backup and re-install the OS. Don't f-disk or anything, just re-install over the top. I've done this on many 98 machines, and I've never lost anything, but I get missing or damaged files back 90% of the time. The other 10% I have to f-disk and start from scratch. Good luck.

i get messg.,explore.exe has genereted errors and will be closed by windows.

That is one of the signs of a virus. Get a good anti-virus software, make sure it's up to date and scan your hard drive for the virus.
