How can I verify tape backups?

Is there a way to verify that a tape backup is readable? I have used the restore -T option to list the contents of the tape. Is there a beeter method to make sure the contents of the tape can ber read?

If the tape can't be read, restore -T will tell you.

you could put a tar -tvf in your backup script to verify your backup.
