How can I use workgroup from Access in VB?

HI,
I have a database built in Microsoft Access 2000 and this is accessed by my VB program.

How can I enter a user name and password in VB that will then be looked for in the Access workgroup file?

Also how can I change the data in the workgroup file from access?

Lastly, how can I check that the user name in the workgroup file matches a field in the database and validate this when editing the workgroup file?

Please help this is urgent (Coursework)
