How Can I Use Win 98 Box as a Proxy Server??

I am looking to use an existing Windows 98 workstation as a proxy server for three other computers to get to the internet through. IT is NOT strictly for internet BROWSER use but also for communicating with another LAN using TCP/IP and software by Attachemate called Accesory Manager.

Will the standard Internet Connection Sharing fit the bill?? I haven't tried it yet as the connection is through an assigned IP address and gateway through a router and a Frame Relay connection. Any help greatly appreciated.

As long as you install proxy software on the Win98 machine you should not have a problem. But stand alone Win98 does not have the ability to be a proxy.

I am sorry the Internet connection should work fine as long as the other stations support connection sharing.
Thats what I get for not reading all the problem.

The only problem with connection sharing through MS is that connection sharing usually requires you to change the IP address to 192.168.1.1 for the host system and 192.168.1.XXX for the others. Frame relay should not matter but who knows with MS.

Butchrecon - Thanks for your replies, I will let you know how it goes. I think that as long as the Primary Workstation acting as the proxy can get to the net, the others may automatically assign the 192.168.x.x to the individual workstations and not affect the proxy. I think you are right that it should work. Those were my thoughts just thought I would toss it out there and see if someone like yourself agreed. Thanks for the advice...
