I know that IE 6.0 is core to the OS; however, I need to do some additional in-house testing of other versions of IE.

Does anyone know of a way to completely remove 6.0 from the system? I know how to change the access during the unattended installation or even after the fact, but it still leaves the program installed.

Please Help!!!

Thanks.

Actually, its IE5 that is 'core'. You can remove IE6 from add/remove programs - restore previous windows configuration'. That will take you back to whatever that was (5, 5.5)

Funny you all should bring this up...

I have IE 6.0 on a W2K Pro (Service Pack 3) and would like to uninstall it but I don't see it in Add/Remove programs. Is there any place else (other than the registry) that I could find this and do a CLEAN install? I can't get it (IE 6.0) to open up a window inside of an already opened web page. The window pops up but it just hangs and contains a portion of the window that's already open. I'd like to revert back to IE 5.5.

TIA...

Will it let you reinstall IE6 - then see if that's put entry in add/remove programs?

No dice. Installing on top of itself only blew away my proxy config settings. What's actually happening is if I'm at a site like, say Gap.com and I want to see an enlarged image of a pair of jeans. I click on the link and another window pops up but the window is either empty (hangs with an hour glass) or it takes a "snapshot" of the page that I'm currently in. I tried IE 5.5 but it won't install because it detects a newer version of the program on my PC.

Sigh...

Go for any upgrade service pack. I've had this issue before. In addition, see what type of window it is trying to open (ie another broweser window?) or something like Adobe (upgrade that too) and make sure you don't have any popupstopper programs running.

I am using IE5.0 on win2k profesional, tried to install IE 6.0 . First i have error you d not of digital signature while in the mean time IE 6.0 still installing software upto 84% and then it stops. Always it happens when ever i tried to install. Now i want to install IE 5.5 but it says first remove IE 6.0 but i can't find where are the files located while its not existing in add/remove programme. Any idea....?
