What call logging i am using?

i.e. the office here is said to have CIL over IP, BUT when i check the config and licenses i am not so sure.

I have an output set from an niu2, but this seems to connect into an AAU (why do we still have these - New system!!)

Can somene tell me what is going on and where i can check the output IP settings.

Cheers Al

HI

You are using and V24 ouput from your NIU board, which sould be counted as SMDR-V24-INTERFACE FAL104488.
To have SMDR-ETH-INTERFACE FAL104489 set, you must make the output of CIL going via the port 4 of the NIU which is the Lan port (1-2-60-4)
Now I don't know if you are going to AAU board, but you should check where your V24 is connected

Best reagrds

Cheers, you are quite right.. the output goes into an AAU card and then out over IP. That's what threw me, why have an AAU if you have an NIU2??? Does it work out cheaper than a license???

Do you know how i set the IP address in the AAU, or even how i connect to it?.. Can i get any of this using MML commands ?

Thanks again
Al

Hi

When using AAU, you have 2 option to connect to it.
Either via the 4th V24 port of the AAU, or via Telnet. This mean to you have either physical access to the AAU or access to the Lan.
When connected and logged, do a reset and follow the below check from alex.

6.1 Restricted network configuration
Restricted network configuration can be used for some non-user settings, and if the password was forgotten. The default password can then be used (in Normal network configuration the default password can only be used when there is no other password added.). This mode can only be reached when connected to the console.

Begin by checking with netstat that no one is connected to the agent, and then reset the agent ( reset command or reset button).
$ netstat
Proto Local Address Foreign Address (state)
$ reset
System going down within 10 seconds, please log off...

Good luck

Does the AAU act in the same way as the the NIU when outputting call loging info? - Any ideas on how to check the IP settings and change the ports ??

Hi

The AAU with the ACAB SW loaded in it is used for storing the data's coming from the NIU or SIU for CIL into a file. The size of the file is 3 MB if I remeber well.
Now to access to the AAU you have 2 options ; either via telnet to access and manage the AAU, or via FTP to download/upload the files, whate ever they are; either the ACAB SW, SNMP SW or upload the CIL file.
I don't know if there is option to change the ports, but I don't see a need for it right now.
However, the AAU with ACAB SW NEVER export its data; you must go in via FTP, fetch the file, and erase it in order to make it empty to continue to receive the CIL infos.

Now with BC12, we do sell CIL on HDU instead of NIU/AAU : you could have a view of the stored data directly.

Best regards

fouesnant thanks for all your help, it was a bit of an unusual set up and i was in a bit of a corner trying to get a new call logger working with the set up and cabling taht was available to me.

I saw it as two options:

1. Leave the NIU output going to the AAU and get the new call logger to access the information over the LAN, BUT i couldn't get this to work as it was only available using FTP, which the system we had could not use.

2. connect the NIU to the new device (tracker 2750)and send the information across as originally intended. the problem with this was taht the cabling i had did not deliver teh information to teh tracker.

In the end i managed to swap out some cabling from the TTY port on another NIU card and using loads of "Gender Benders" and a null modem it eventually came to life.

So star for your help and thanks for all of your quick responses anyway
Cheers
