How can I tell what type of USB ports my PC has? ie. 1, 1.1 or 2?

Device manager/USB devices. If 1.1, it will say "USB". If 2.0, it will say "Ultra" (or ver 5.0).

USB 2.0 Devices are usually described as EHCI ports, where USB 1.1 are shown as OHCI ports.

Post the make and model of your motherboard here.
"enhanced" also seems to be another desciption in device manager, for USB2.
