Simplified version....
On the server with your Web Component Adapters installed (may or may not be the same server as the rest of BusinessObjects) if IIS is running, you're probably using the .NET version. Otherwise you're using Java.

Another clue, if the URL for your InfoView starts like -
then you are using the IIS / .Net interface.
