Hello Everyone,<br>I am having a problem with mail merge in Office 97. I am mergeing 1000 to 2000 records at a time. It begins merging very quickly, but once it reaches record number 250, it slows to a snails pace. <br><br>I am merging an excel database, into a word document. I am also using a very fast computer, with a ton of memory. I believed that speeding up the computer and adding more memory was the solution, but it really hasn't had much effect. <br><br>Any ideas will be greatly appreciated.<br><br>Thanks in advance<br>

What's the measurement of a snail's pace? I'd say it should take up to about 5 minutes for that many records not matter what machine...just my experience. <p> <br><a href=mailto:techsupportgirl@home.com>techsupportgirl@home.com</a><br><a href= </a><br>

I just read this now, I do mailmerge all the time, and I will merge 2000 recs in under 5 min easy, I use a DBase III format for the data, and if there is any text boxes on the document, convert them to frames. If you have a lot of images on the document, It will go slow no matter what, but converting the textbox on my address blocks to frames made a huge difference, I merged 10000 records at one time in just under 10 minutes.

Better late than never....

I had a similar problem when using office automation and merging access data directly into Word (with my Access program controlling Word). It was a dog no matter how many records I merged. I found that doing a TRANSFERTEXT function to a text file, then performing the merge based on this text file was much more efficient than sending data directly from Access (I still control the opening, merging and closing from within Access).
