How can I sort ebcdic using UNIX sort

I need to sort a file on UNIX and then send it to a mainframe to match sorted files there. Thus, I need to sort using ebcdic rather than ascii. the man page says something about setting LC_COLLATE. Has any one done thios?

Could you use the unix/edcdic conversion utilities (if available) to do this?

man dd (the conv= option)
