How can I set up a page counter using javascript

I'm new to web development, and I have just created a Web page that consists in several html pages. The site has a main page but it's not necesary to load it in order to access the site.
I want to be able to set up a site counter, in other words, I want the counter to increase whenever any page be loaded by a visitor.

You can't using JavaScript. You have to use some kind of server-side program to keep track of the number of users. There are a number of free counters you can use on your site.

I second what Adam said though. JS can't count unique users.
