Hey guys,
This may be a simple thing to program, but I'm having trouble figuring it out...hence, here I am.

Using an ACS Partner system, about 20 users. System is set up with auto attendant (Avaya Partner messaging module)programmed to direct caller to enter an extension, in this case "Customer Service" (single user).

The client wants to create a call group of four users in the same room so that if the customer service line is busy, the incoming call does not roll to the users v-mail.....ah, here in lies the rub; They all still want v-mail coverage. From what I have read it is not possible to have an extension in a separate hunt group and have voice mail coverage at the same time?

Is it possible to set up the system so that the incoming calls ring at multiple user phones at the same time, or roll over to another extension while still being able the have their individual mail boxes? there has to be a way around this.

Thanks in advance, and any insight is much appreciated!

Jeff

Put thr 4 extensions into one of the 4 calling groups, and have the caller dial the calling group's extension number (71-74) or use a selector code to transfer there. The individual mailboxes will be unaffected.

If you also want voice mail coverage for the group, that gets a little more involved.

Thanks for the response. But the voice mail programming prompts are not giving me the option to make this call group an option for the selector codes...am I missing something?

Thanks again for the help.

Make the call group mailbox before you change the selector code, option 1 is Selector Code Transfer, you want it to transfer to Ext. 71 (or 72, 73, or 74).

Gotcha....thanks.

One more question...changing the selector code 1, for example...will that still allow callers to enter an extension? for example, the caller just hits "12". How do I make sure the system just doesn't forward to selector code "1" and not wait for the "2" to make it 12? I've had that as an issue before with the Partner messaging module.

Thanks!

each selector code can only be used for one thing. if you want people to be able to use it dial extensions directly you cannot use it to route to a specific extension to. if it is setup to route to a specific extension it will not even recognize the second digit if you are trying to choose the ext you want to route to.

thanks, tim
