Hi

Is there a way to set a password for Win ME to stop access to my destop ? I know it has one - but if you click cancel on load up - it just bypasses and allows anyone access to my files & programmes. Do I need some software for this ? Is there a freeware prog to do it ?

Thanks

Try looking into setting up a second profile to allow others to use your pc but limit what they can do on the desktop. Not super familiar with ME but also look in the control panel and see if there is a passwords and users applet that will help you.

Hi mate,

If you want to totally lock your machine from access then the best way would be to set the machine up to require a password on startup.

Depending on what type of machine that you have, there are different ways to access the setup of the machine, a lot of machines tell you when you boot to "press esc to enter setup" or something similar.

Hope this helps Wullie
