How can I save a uservg without user data files using AIX 4.3.3

Is it possible in 4.3.3 to use savevg to backup only uservg structure without user data files? Ultimately want the backup to go to CD.

If your data files are in a separate jfs - umount it and then do the savevg.

after running mkvgdata, the file you want to backup is /tmp/vgdata/vgname/vgname.data
