how can I run 8.0.1 and 8.1.7 on same client

I have an existing oracle 8.0 application (forms45/reports25) I have a couple of hundred client machines with set up (to set up a machine I install the runtime developer files and set up a sqlnet and tnsnames file)

We just added a new application that is oracle 8.1.7. To set up a workstation for this new application I have to install the Oracle 8.1.7 client on the workstation. It does not require developer runtime since the application is not an oracle developer app.

How can I get both clients to run on our workstations. Staff need to access the old developer 2000/Oracle 8.0 as well as the new 8.1.7 applications.

any suggestions would be appreciated..
