Greetings Everyone!
I am looking for a work instruction on how to replace the 'wav' files that are used to select ringing tones on the phone.
I have read that these 'wav' files should not exceed 4 seconds. Does anyone know what the file names are called and which menu to use when uploading them.
It is not clear in our manual what the naming of these files are... and the difference between the ring tone for CO lines and the IPECS terminal phones?

I would also like to know please. Doing this on phontage is a piece of cake but I can't see how to do it for the LIP phones.

RING FILE FORMAT
Sample Rate : 8000bit
Channels : Mono
Resolution : 16-bit
Data Formatted As 8-bit mu-law compressed.

MAKE RING FILE
Load a music file to Wave editable window application like Adobe Audition 2.0 (used to be Cool Edit 2000)
Select an appropriate block with 8 seconds length (not 8.004, EXACTLY 8 seconds).
Save this block as mu-Law 8 bit file format.
Save File Name as TonRing8.LR0 ~ TonRing8.LR9
User can upload TonRing8.LR0 ~ TonRing8.LR0 to MFIME and each phone can download these ring files.
Four of the tones are initially stored in the phone’s permanent memory. Ten tones are stored in the system’s memory. Four of the ten can be downloaded into the phone for use as the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th ring tone options.

To download a ring tone from system memory:
1. Press [PGM] and dial [1] to select "Ring" option.
2. Dial [5] for ring tone download.
3. Dial a ring tone option location 5-8.
4. Dial Ring Selection 0-9. Tone sounds.
5. Press [SAVE] to download.
Then Choose the Ring Type for the Ring File you just downloaded.

Creating a new tone for MFIM

=> Load a music file to Wave editable window application like Adobe Audition 2.0 (used to be Cool Edit 2000)
=> Select an appropriate block with 8 seconds length (not 8.004, EXACTLY 8 seconds or 64058 bytes )(or less)
=> Save this block as mu-Law 8 bit file format.
=> Save File Name as TonRing8.LR0 ~ TonRing8.LR9 ie(TonRing8.LR0; TonRing8.LR1; TonRing8.LR2; TonRing8.LR3)

Uploading the ring tone to iPECS with Internet Explorer
User can upload TonRing8.LR0 ~ TonRing8.LR0 to MFIME and each phone can download these ring files.
=> IPECS Admin & Maintenance
=> S/W Upgrade
=> File upload... => Browse

=> Once it is uploaded, it will appear in the File System View

Note: Four of the tones are initially stored in the phone's permanent memory.

* Ten tones are stored in the system's memory.
* Four of the ten can be downloaded into each phone for use as the 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th ring tone options.
* Delete the file of the same name from the File System.
* Be aware that some cordless headsets detect a ringing at the LiP phone by recognising a normal ring over the speaker. (Eg some handset lifter models) - they may not "see" a non standard ring tone as a ring - and then do not ring the cordless headset
* These TonRing files are replaced with the default files on every system S/W upgrade.
***So Back them up!***
