Hello for all,

I want to ask somebody maybe help me: How to protect Access .mdb file for more security? Like for can't open .mdb only from software.
(It's better if somebody put examples and would be in VB6, VB.NET or VC#.NET and using MS Access 2000 or 2002-2003 format's)

Thank's

P.S. I know about simple user password protection in Access, but it's not secury, requare more advance.
Sorry for my English.

Keept on a PC whith no network connection and an armed guard?? (The Austrian bear with an M-60E maybe?)

Better than password protect an .mdb is using user level security (crackable), access rights on PC (Logon)( but I 've seen a user name and password on a yellow Post It on an TFT), access rights on servers + folders (don 't they crack???).

you could make the file an mde format, this is done by converting to an application, YOU MUST MAKE A COPY BEFORE, AS YOU CANNOT REVERSE THE PROCESS, YOU ALSO DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK

this would make it more secure and stop people tampering with the tables etc

Hope this is of use, Rob.[yoda]

So, don't use ms-access but a "real" database like, say, SQL Server, Oracle, ...

Hope This Helps, PH.
