how can I pass a variable from shockwave to authorware?

I am using activeX shockwave component to bring in my content. What I am looking for is a way to pass a variable from shockwave to authorware...any ideas....or do I really need to use the original dir file or dxr?

I am using authorware to comply with SCORM and will use authorware as a SCORM wrapper for the module lessons.
