How can I overcome the 2Gig limit on file on Linux

Hi I'm running Linux Redhat 6.2 with Oracle 8i.

The database is bigger than 8 gigs. So oracle needs to create a file bigger to accomodate the size. But linux does not allow the file to be bigger than 2 Gig.

Hi,

The 2gb limit is related to the ext2 file system. One option would be to use another filesystem like sgi's xfs -->

You could also consider things like partitioning tables -->
