How can I make a table from a pass-thru query

I have a pass-thru query that is simply a select statement with a few fields. Because its such a large recordset, its pretty slow when I use it in a listbox...I would like to have a table consisting of these fields...however in the Access query grid, when I use the pass-thru as the source for a make-table query, DB2 throws an error message.
Is this possible? Thanks

What error message did you get? I've sometimes found it necessary to "wrap" a pass-thru query inside of an access query in order to make it work.

For example:
Create an access query called MyAccessQuery
Select <field list> from MyPassThruQuery

Then create your make table query from MyAccessQuery.

Without seeing your error message, I don't know if this will solve your problem, but it is worth a shot.

Another idea is to create a replicate-step prior to accessing the listbox. In the replication-step you load data from DB2 to an access table and then define the form on the local table.
This will give maximum performance and it will be usuable if the DB2 backend only changes overnight (datawarehouse?)

Good question. I recall building such a construction for foreign offices. That way they could load new data in the morning without having to query over the line to our main office.
I think I used linked tables with a macro that could be fired from the main menu. Unfortunately I am no longer working with that firm, so I cannot check...

Ties,

From reading other links, I see you have crossed over to oracle. How is that working out?

Well, it is just not my cup of tea. I really enjoyed working with DB2/AS400.
However, I am aiming for a new job with a bank that does run DB2. So, there is a good chance I'll be back!!
