how can I launch a dependent window for certain condition?

Hi, I hope someone can help me with this problem...now I have a independent window where user can maintain the programme. If user key in a player number, I'll do some validation to check whether the section code for the player number is valid...if it's invalid then dependent window will be launched for user to modify the section code. I can check the validation in SDO procedure(server side). I found out a way to control the lauching of the dependent window which is using launchFolderWindow in client side. The question here is: how can I check the validation in viewer procedure so that I can launch dependent window from the client side?
