Hi,
I know the process name. I would like to observe that. and get the exact info when it gets killed. I will be happy if I can get other info like memory size periodically (for every 1 min/5 mins).
But I want the exact time when it gets killed.

I need this on all unix flavors. Immediately on Solaris

Thanks,
Murali

In general, you can keep track of a running process with:
ps -ef | grep '<process-name>'

See the man pages (man ps) for additional qualifiers and options.

As far as I know, 'accounting' (man -k accounting) needs to be turned on or some third-party accounting package installed before you can discover the exact time a process finished (was killed).

I hope that helps.

Mike
