How can I join 2 Tables to one Report?

I have 2 tables, One is has write ups and another has Absences and tardies. I need to make a report that will make a list of occurances from both reports by date. How can I do this
 
Sort by date Sort by votes
Link them together in a query and use the query as the source for the report.

I haven't failed, I have just found 10,000 ways that it won't work!
